I come from a family of artistic souls. As the daughter of an interior designer, I learned at an early age the profound effect space and surroundings can have on your thoughts, your moods, your life. I see creativity as a God-given gift - one that flowed from my grandmother, Mamie, in nearly every aspect of her life. Her paintings, drawings and handmade furnishings had such a strong influence on me. I’m honored to be a part of a legacy that embraces the imaginative spirit and creates beauty for the enjoyment of others - this is what I truly love doing.

Katie Emmons is a licensed interior designer in Charlotte and professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). In addition to her interior design degree, Katie holds an intensive level of training and experience. These include attending a nationally accredited interior design program, completing a two-year internship with a licensed interior designer, passing a six-part architectural interior design exam (NCIDQ - National Council for Interior Design Qualification), and receiving approval from the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners. Having established her business in 1995 in Dallas, TX, Katie now lives in Charlotte, NC.

Katie's oldest daughter, Grace, brings a fresh perspective to the family design legacy, shaped by her studies at UNC Chapel Hill, where she earned a degree in economics and a minor in studio art. This combination of business knowledge and artistic ability has fostered her passion for both the technical and creative aspects of design. With a particular passion for space planning and organization, Grace enjoys working with Katie to create floor plans and elevations. Her creativity paired with her analytical mindset provides a fresh outlook and detailed project plan for each space that we design. 

Olivia, the youngest daughter of Katie, brings her vibrant creativity to the team after graduating from North Carolina State University, where she studied Fashion and Textile Management at the Wilson College of Textiles. Growing up in a household rich in artistic expression nurtured her passion for design and art, which flourished during her studies. Olivia has an eye for detail and a love for the unique, whether it’s sourcing antique furniture or discovering one-of-a-kind artwork. Her dedication to design extends beyond her professional life; she enjoys styling wardrobes and spaces, as well as finding new art pieces for her own home, embodying her belief that creativity enriches everyday living. 

Neal brings a solid history of entrepreneurial experience with almost two decades in the financial services industry and 15-years of experience in a deeply fulfilling role as the founder and visionary of a non-profit organization in Charlotte, whose mission is to provide a college education to students from single-parent families. Just as his upbringing shaped his creative outlook, his work is driven by a desire to help and uplift others. From nurturing potential and providing educational opportunities to students, he is now focused on helping to create a lasting legacy for the family business.

 

At Katie Emmons Design, his responsibilities include strategic direction, operational efficiency, financial oversight, and partnership development.
